FORGESIDE U9’s entertained Usk on Sunday but were disappointing in defeat.

The young black and ambers were slow starting and found themselves four tries down in as many minutes.

This was down to sloppy tackling from the home sides' defence, where the visitors punished Forgeside at every opportunity.

The home side did get back into the game and scored some tries of their own through captain for the day Arron Turner, and Edward Winterfeld.

In the final 10 minutes of the game Forgeside found themselves nine tries to four down, however there were big improvements made particularly in the tackle area where Harrison Reed went into double figures with some aggressive defending.

Also in defence, Ieuan Rowlands racked up the tackles one after another along with scoring himself three tries with some elusive running.

Kai Teale also defended well and attacked from deep to score himself three good tries in the process.

Callum Kenvin also improved his tackle count as did Riley Coslett.

However this was not enough as Usk ran out deserved winners with the final score being Forgeside eight tries, Usk 12 tries.

Next week Forgeside U7’s, U8’s and U9’s are away to Ynysddu and will be hoping for a change in fortunes.
