NEWPORT, Ebbw Vale and Bedwas all lock horns with English opposition this afternoon as they prepare for the start of the Principality Premiership season.

The Black and Ambers visit National League One outfit Rosslyn Park (kick-off 3pm) for the first time in 30 years and will come up against former players Adam Frampton, Arthur Ellis and Scott Sneddon.

Head coach Craig Warlow is without wing Elliot Frewen and Jonathan Lewis, who are playing for the Dragons in the Singha Premiership 7s, but will use to clash to allow new signings to bed in and have a look at potential signings.

The Steelmen should also enjoy a tough workout when they travel to English Championship side Moseley (kick-off 3pm).

Coach Nigel Davies, who took over the reins from Jason Strange this summer, hands starts to fellow newcomers Steffan Jones (wing), Patric Lewis (centre), Ryan Gardiner (wing) and Ethan Doyle (back row).

Bedwas stay at home when they welcome their friends from Henley to Bridge Field (kick-off 2.30pm).

Steve Law’s men have taken on the Hawks of National One in the last two seasons, winning 40-33 away last summer and 12-7 at Bridge Field in 2013.

Meanwhile, lock Dan Mock will captain Newbridge in the Swalec Championship this season with flanker Kyle Tayler (CORRECT) his deputy.
