A PENALTY by Morgan Parry with the last kick of the game saw Forgeside edge past West Mon to make it through to play Gwernyfed in the final of the Ivor Jones Cup.
The contest was tight throughout with hosts West Mon leading 12-7 at the break and then holding a 12-10 advantage in the tense closing stages.
West Mon had several chances to secure the victory as they dominated territory in the second half but they went begging.
They were made to pay for their profligacy at the death when a penalty was awarded and Parry bisected the posts to sneak the victory 13-12 in front of a crowd of more than 200.
West Mon scorers: tries – Gavin Wheatstone, Luke Royal; conversion – Luke Royal
Forgeside scorers: try – Steve Howard; conversion – Morgan Parry; penalties Morgan Parry (2)
