NEWPORT Gwent Dragons prospects Hallam Amos and Tyler Morgan have been selected for Wales’ summer tour to New Zealand along with Bath-bound number eight Taulupe Faletau.

Head coach Warren Gatland has plumped for experience in his 35-strong squad for the friendly with England at Twickenham and three-Test tour against the All Blacks that also features a midweek clash with the Chiefs.

Wales are without full-back Leigh Halfpenny, who has not played since suffering a knee injury in the final World Cup warm-up against Italy, so Amos will battle with Gareth Anscombe, Tom James, Eli Walker and Matthew Morgan to join George North and Liam Williams in the back three against the world champions.

The Dragons man started on the wing in the Six Nations finale against Italy to win his sixth cap.

Tyler Morgan is one of four centres and will hope to add to his tally of three caps against England in London and feature against the Chiefs. Scott Williams returns to battle Jamie Roberts and Jonathan Davies for a place in the midfield.

There is no place for young Dragons hooker Elliot Dee with Gatland sticking with Kristian Dacey as the back-up to Scott Baldwin and Ken Owens.

In the absence of the injured Justin Tipuric there is just one specialist openside - captain Sam Warburton - with no selection for either James Davies or Ellis Jenkins.

“We have picked a squad that is packed full of experience for what is going to be a challenging, but exciting five match campaign,” said Gatland.

“We will be facing the Six Nations Champions at Twickenham first up and that will be an important start to the tour and will set the tone for the weeks ahead.

“We will have a bit of time together when we land in New Zealand before the first Test then its into three Test matches against the All Blacks plus a midweek match against the Chiefs.

“It is a great opportunity for us to test ourselves, build on the World Cup and the Six Nations and it’s a challenge we are all looking forward to.

“We are in a great position in terms of the experience in the squad especially when you look at the age of most of the players and this is going to be another important summer.”
