CROSS Keys' Angie Prangell declared that seeing young players flourish on the big stage is her biggest reward for hours of toil after she won the unsung hero award at the Principality Premiership awards.

Prangell is assistant secretary, director of media and marketing and head steward at Pandy Park while she also works as team manager of the Dragons Under-18s.

She was presented with a framed and signed limited edition Wales jersey from last year's World Cup by Welsh Rugby Union chairman Gareth Davies.

One of the players featured was former Keys number eight Taulupe Faletau and Prangell said seeing youngsters fulfil their potential is one of the highlights of devoting so much time to the sport.

"I am absolutely over the moon! I don't know why I've had the award because I'm just a little cog in a big wheel and I do what I do because I love it, but I am really chuffed," she said.

"Watching players grow and achieve such great things is what makes my job easier. I saw Toby come to Keys at 17 and now look where he is, when you see the likes of Leon Brown winning Grand Slams with Wales Under-20s it's fantastic and then my heart is thumping when I've watch Hallam Amos running out at the Millennium Stadium.

"When I get wet on a Saturday being head steward and have to tell people they can't bring their drinks in (from the clubhouse to the ground), it's all worthwhile when you see those young guys do what they do."

Ebbw Vale's Ronny Kynes paid tribute to his fellow forwards after picking up the top try scorer award after a season in which he crossed 16 times for the champions with a further three efforts coming in the play-offs.

The 29-year-old flanker has been the beneficiary of the Steelmen's driving lineout with Rob Smith, who runs the club's Twitter matchday account, coining the popular phrase 'Catch 'n' Kynes'.

"I feel a bit cheeky taking all the credit really, I've got to thank the pack of forwards," said Kynes before a montage of his close-range efforts was played to the soundtrack of Dave Dudley's country song 'Keep on Truckin'.

Wing Ryan Gardner was another Ebbw winner with his finish from a flowing team move against Cross Keys at Eugene Cross Park getting the honour of try of the season.

Aberavon speedster Jay Baker won the newcomer honour and Llandovery fly-half Jack Maynard was top points scorer with the Drovers' Euros Evans named as coach of the year after leading the club to the play-offs and winning the Swalec Cup.

Cross Keys won the fair play award while Ben Whitehouse was named as referee of the season.
