HOOKER Elliot Dee is set to continue his comeback from ankle ligament damage today when he takes his place on the bench for Bedwas in the Principality Premiership.

The Newport Gwent Dragons front-row forward was injured playing for his region during a pre-season friendly against Cardiff Blues.

He made his return to action in the Dragons’ Anglo-Welsh Cup hiding at Leicester last Saturday, coming on as a second-half substitute in place of Darran Harris.

Dee, 22, starts among the replacements again this afternoon, as Bedwas make the short trip north to play struggling Bargoed (kick-off noon).

Bargoed were unlucky not to come away with anything from the Arms Park in Cardiff last time out, going down 30-22, while Bedwas earned an excellent draw against leaders Aberavon.

Fly-half Richard Powell, who is not in the squad for the Bargoed Park showdown, denied the Wizards the win at Bridge Field by coming off the bench to kick a last-ditch penalty.

Bedwas, in sixth, make few changes to the side that faced Aberavon with the only alteration in the backs seeing Luke Crane replace Nicky Griffiths at scrum-half.

Prop Dan Preece takes the captain’s armband and there is a welcome return to the second row for Joe Davies.

James Richards switches to the back row and Robson Blake returns to number-eight after featuring for the Dragons in that cup defeat last weekend.

“Bargoed have run several teams very close in recent weeks,” said Bedwas head coach Steve Law.

“If we are not at our very best this game has the potential to be a banana skin for us.

“A local derby including bragging rights adds to the mix but we must ensure we play to the best of our ability.”
