NEWPORT RFC head coach Craig Warlow admits off-field uncertainty is affecting the Black and Ambers but hopes the plight can help the club unite to win silverware.

It promises to be a pivotal month in the history of the famous club with the Welsh Rugby Union proposing to take ownership of their Rodney Parade home as part of a deal for Newport Gwent Dragons.

That offer has been agreed by the Dragons board but needs to be ratified by Newport RFC shareholders, with many Black and Ambers supporters expressing grave concerns about losing their asset with no guarantee over the long-term future of rugby at Rodney Parade.

Meanwhile, the Black and Ambers have four regular season fixtures remaining in the Principality Premiership and then a likely push in the play-offs of Tier Two.

"The focus for the players and management this week has been on doing everything we can to gain the win against fellow Principality Premiership opponents Swansea," said the former Dragons fly-half.

"All of the off the field stuff cannot be ignored and to say that is doesn't affect anything anyone involved in the club does, is not really telling the truth.

"What we have to do is turn this situation into something that unites us and gives us energy to achieve the momentum needed, to win games of rugby between now and mid-May."

The Friends of Newport Rugby Trust are pushing for a bumper crowd against the Whites on Saturday (kick-off 2.30pm), encouraging fans to squeeze into their oldest black and amber jersey.

Warlow has encouraged those that have the club's best wishes at heart to head through the turnstiles this weekend.

"I attended the shareholders and supporters Q&A last week and I have seen and read about various proposals," said Warlow.

"I have also seen and read about the groundswell of support to ensure this club gets the best outcome going forward.

"That support needs to be visible, not just on computer screens or on social media. My hope is that on Saturday we see the evidence of that support visible from the terraces and in the noise we make as a group with a shared agenda, and that is success for Newport RFC.

"It could be argued that we are due a little bit of luck and success here, although I'd prefer to earn it! Please come along to the game on Saturday and give the team your full support."

The Swansea game is the first of three regular season games remaining at Rodney Parade this season with Llanelli visiting on Saturday, April 29 and Cross Keys making the short journey south on Wednesday, May 3.
