WALES boss Chris Coleman says Aaron Ramsey is more than good enough to play for Barcelona.

The Arsenal star has been linked with a £50m move to the Nou Camp in the past week.

And Coleman would be keen to see Ramsey join his Wales teammate Gareth Bale out in Spain.

The national manager even suggested that if he was English Ramsey would already be a star in La Liga.

“I’m not that surprised because if you look at the way he plays and the way Barcelona play with all that imagination it is not too dissimilar to the way Arsenal play,” said Coleman of the Barca link.

“But he’s Welsh. I promise you if he was English...it’s the same with Baley. £80million is a staggering amount of money but that is how football is now.

“It’s always been little old Wales. We are a small nation so it’s like why would Real Madrid want him?

“But just look at the cold facts; is he good enough to play for them? Of course he is.

“Barca signed Rakitic from Sevilla last year. He’s a good player. Some people were scoffing at that. But he’s a good player. And if Barca are looking at Rambo then it’s for a reason.

“It’s for his style of play. He’s already playing for Arsenal who play a similar style.

“He’s playing at the top of the Premier League, Champions League every season so ability-wise when you see the best of Aaron Ramsey...at his best is he good enough for Barcelona? Yes he is at his best.”

Coleman admits that the prospect of Bale v Ramsey in El Clasico would be mouth-watering.

“I think Arsenal’s a great club,” he said. “You can’t do much better than Arsenal. I know he loves it there.

“I think he signed a long-term contract last year so I’m happy for him to stay at Arsenal.

“[But] if he is being linked with a club like Barcelona then who is not going to want to see that? Barcelona is Barcelona.”

Ramsey scored the winner for Arsenal in last year’s FA Cup final and he’s aiming to repeat the trick against Aston Villa on Saturday.

And Coleman is backing the man they call Rambo to fire the Gunners to Wembley victory again before turning his attention to the crucial Euro 2016 clash with Belgium in Cardiff on June 12.

“You have to fancy Arsenal because when you look at the squads pound-for-pound they have the better players and players like Rambo who has the capacity to score a goal,” he said.

“I want Aaron to win it and turning up with us with a big smile on his face.

“If you lose the FA Cup final then it will have a little effect on him.

“He’s our boy so we want him to do the business.”
