HALLAM Amos will have to settle for being 24th man against Fiji after Wales boss Warren Gatland opted to stick with experience in the back three for Saturday's Test, writes Chris Kirwan.

Gatland has made eight changes to the side that lost 33-28 to Australia but has plumped for an seasoned back three of Liam Williams, George North and Alex Cuthbert with Cardiff Blues centre and Gloucester fly-half/full-back James Hook providing cover from the bench.

Amos, whose solitary cap came against Tonga last autumn, and Newport Gwent Dragons wing/full-back Tom Prydie's chances of forcing their way into the squads for the New Zealand and South Africa Tests appear to be reliant on others' injury misfortune.

Gatland said: "Hallam is a player that we discussed whether we gave an opportunity to but in fairness we played George at centre (against Australia) so wanted him at the wing and Liam at full-back after Leigh Halfpenny picked up an injury.

"We wanted to make some changes but wanted to have quite a bit of continuity and experience for the players that are coming in to have confidence."

The Wales management have rung the changes up front with loosehead Gethin Jenkins coming in to captain the side in the absence of rested captain Sam Warburton while hooker Scott Baldwin, locks Bradley Davies and Luke Charteris and openside Justin Tipuric get the nod.

Centre Scott Williams is back from a shoulder injury to feature in midfield while fly-half Rhys Priestland replaces Dan Biggar, who should be in contention to return in the third autumn Test against New Zealand, and scrum-half Mike Phillips comes in for Rhys Webb, who has a sore neck.

Six of the eight players that have come in featured off the bench against the Wallabies.

"We've made some changes but there is still a lot of experience and firepower in the team, we feel that we are good enough to win and win well on Saturday," said Gatland.

"We've come unstuck in the past when we've drawn or lost after making 10 or 11 changes."
