NEWPORT Gwent Dragons’ teenage centre Tyler Morgan has been named in Wales’ squad for the Six Nations.

The 19-year-old from Caerleon, who was sensational in last weekend’s 40-29 win in Newcastle, signed a dual contract at the end of last year and will now have the chance to earn a first cap.

Morgan, however, faces a challenge to force his way in as Wales boast Jamie Roberts, Jonathan Davies, Scott Williams and George North as midfield options and it is possible he will be released for Under-20s duty.

His regional teammates Taulupe Faletau and Hallam Amos have been named in the 34-strong squad by Warren Gatland but there is no place for in-form Dragons hooker Elliot Dee with Cardiff Blues’ Kristian Dacey getting the nod as the back-up to Richard Hibbard and Scott Baldwin.

New Zealand-born fly-half Gareth Anscombe is selected and loosehead Rob Evans is rewarded for some excellent displays with the Scarlets but there is no place for tighthead Adam Jones with Aaron Jarvis and Scott Andrews the options if Samson Lee fails to overcome his neck injury.

"It's great to be able to name such an experienced squad that also boasts some exciting young talent,” said Gatland.

"The four uncapped players have all been going well for their respective regions and it will be good to see them in this environment and we hope they take the opportunity.

"They come into a squad packed with experience and that experience will be important to us over the next eight weeks and the year as a whole.

"We all know how tough the Six Nations is and we kick the tournament off with a huge game against England and that is something you have to be excited about and look forward to.

"We were pleased on the whole with the autumn campaign and this is another opportunity for us as we look ahead to a very big year in the rugby calendar.”
