NEWPORT Gwent Dragons boss Lyn Jones believes that wing Hallam Amos will be doing more than just holding tackle bags for Wales during the Six Nations, backing his starlet to force Warren Gatland to choose between Lions George North and Alex Cuthbert.

Much of the talk ahead of the tournament opener against England is whether Liam Williams' form with the Scarlets will lead to one of the wingers missing out.

But Jones believes that 20-year-old Amos, who scored two terrific tries and provided one delightful assist in last week's European win against Newcastle, can add to the solitary cap he won against Tonga in the autumn of 2013.

"Hallam is a genuine selection headache," said the director of rugby. "I am pretty confident that he can push himself into the 11 shirt and the selectors will then need to decide whether George North or Alex Cuthbert is at 14."

Amos is joined in the squad by 19-year-old centre/wing Tyler Morgan but Jones admits it may be a case of Gatland bringing the prospect in for a glimpse of the Test camp given that he has Jamie Roberts, Jonathan Davies, Scott Williams and Cory Allen as competition.

"With Tyler it depends how he trains and impresses the coaches. They want a closer look at him, they have centrally contracted him for a reason and need to have a little bit more time with him," he said.

"I applaud the selection and they will find that their decision to centrally contract is a wise one, the boy has so much potential but also has so much to learn about the game.

"He can score tries out of nothing and that's what you need in international rugby. It's up to Tyler to take his opportunity."

Amos and Morgan join certain starter Taulupe Faletau in the squad meaning that the Dragons have provided a player more than they did in 2014 when Andrew Coombs was named alongside the number eight.

"I am delighted that our contribution to the national squad has increased but at the same time there's disappointment for Tom Prydie, Andrew Coombs and Elliot Dee but that's the way selection goes and they have to prove themselves again," said Jones.

"We are on the right track and we are creating more competition for national selection and we intend to keep on increasing our numbers."
