WALES full-back/wing Liam Williams is a doubt for the World Cup after undergoing surgery on a foot complaint.

No timescale has been put on the Scarlets star’s lay-off and he is remaining in camp as preparations intensify for England 2015.

However, it means that Williams, who has become an increasingly important figure for Warren Gatland’s side, will be in a race against time to make September’s tournament.

The 24-year-old has established himself in the Wales XV after replacing Alex Cuthbert in the Six Nations, impressing on the wing with Leigh Halfpenny at full-back.

His injury blow gives a boost to Newport Gwent Dragons full-back/wing Hallam Amos making the cut for the 31-strong World Cup squad.

The 20-year-old now looks certain to add to the one cap that he won against Tonga in 2013 when Gatland’s men play warm-up encounters against Ireland prior to the whittling down of the training squad.
