CARYS Phillips will captain Wales Women in their first game under the stewardship of her dad Rowland when they lock horns with Scotland on Saturday.

The hooker skippers the side at their new home at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park and the squad features six of the Dragons Women that beat their Cardiff Blues counterparts in Ystrad Mynach on Sunday.

There are starts for tighthead Meg York, lock Rebecca Rowe, scrum-half Sian Moore, centre Rebecca De Filippo and wing Charlie Murray while Elinor Snowsill, who didn't feature for the Dragons last weekend, will pull the strings from fly-half.

Wales boast plenty of experience on a bench that includes the Dragons' Cerys Hale, Sian Williams and Gemma Rowland.

Saturday's hosts triumphed 23-10 when the teams met at the Gnoll in the Six Nations last season and head coach Phillips expects a good workout.

He said: "We're really proud to call BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park home this season, and this Saturday's match is an excellent way to begin our campaign in the capital city.

"We've had a very good couple of weeks in camp, so there have been some tough selection calls to make, but the aim is for everyone to get some game time with a fixture against the UK Armed Forces also to come on Remembrance Day."

Phillips continued: "The Scotland squad has been in camp together a lot longer than us as they're seeking World Cup qualification, so we know they'll be coming to Cardiff well prepared for a tough encounter, so we should be in for a good match."

Gates open at 11am with adult tickets costing £5 and entry for under-16s costing £1.
