ROB Howley says it's up to Adam Jones to make the call to the Wales management team if he wants to come out of international retirement to be considered for the Six Nations.

Samson Lee has been ruled out of Sunday's clash with Scotland at Murrayfield after suffering a blow to the head in the tournament opener against England.

He has been replaced by Ospreys tighthead Aaron Jarvis with Scott Andrews, who is behind Jones, Taufa'ao Filise and Craig Mitchell in the pecking order at Cardiff Blues, named on the bench.

Jones decided to retire from the Test scene when he wasn't named in the Six Nations squad and Howley says there is going to be no repeat of 2008 when Warren Gatland persuaded Marytn Williams to return to the Wales set-up.

"We respect players decisions and Adam has retired from international rugby," said Howley.

"If Adam had made the call to Warren, I'm not too sure, but I'm unaware of that."

The absence of Lee is a blow to a Wales side that struggled in the set piece against the English but Howley is confident that the Scarlets man's deputies can thrive in Edinburgh.

"Aaron and Scott have been with us over the last couple of years and Aaron came to South Africa with us last summer and came on in the second Test," he said.

"It's a great opportunity. We feel for Samson, as coaches do, but it's important we move on and look forward to the opportunity it presents to both Scott and Aaron."

Andrews has been a fringe figure for his region this season and even played as an emergency lock in the Blues' European Rugby Challenge Cup victory against Italian minnows Rovigo.

Nonetheless Howley believes the 25-year-old will be up to the task on his 10th international appearance.

"We are absolutely confident in Scott," he said. "He's a ball-playing prop with great hands and great footwork.

"Obviously the crux of being a prop is scrum and lineout and that is going to be a key up in Scotland.

"That's certainly something they've improved on in terms of their set-piece and their ability to contest at opposition scrum and lineout.

"Of course we would have like Scott to have a little bit more rugby under his belt, but that hasn't been the case, so it's something which Scott will look forward to when he gets that opportunity."
