Thank goodness the grownups have stepped in and this ludicrous proposal is now likely to be binned.
Never fear though, I'm sure somebody else will be along in a year or two to try and sell Blaenau Gwent's Mayor Quimby a nice, shiny new monorail.

THE EDITOR'S CHAIR: We’re putting up price but bringing you more

Thanks Calon Lan. A very interesting and well argued post.
In response to a few of your points - probably less than 30% of the content of the print edition of the Argus appears online.
With the exception of rare instances when there is a local angle, we don't publish celebrity gossip or national newswire material in the paper.
As I state in my column above, we will be releasing an app for tablets and mobiles next month. This will be free for readers who purchase the paper, or available to buy via the iTunes app store.
We have recruited more reporters as part of our plan to invest much of the cover price increase back into the product, with at least 48 extra pages of local news and sport every week.
Other than our current online, mobile, social media and future app presence, what other new technology do you have in mind?
