MATTHEWS MAUREEN Passed away on 12th January 2020, at Nevill Hall Hospital, Maureen, of Varteg Road, Varteg. Much loved mother of Stephanie and mother-in-law of Tim. Loved and sadly missed by her family and friends. Funeral service on Thursday 30th January 2020. The service and committal ceremony will take place at The Gwent Crematorium, Croesyceiliog at 10am.Family flowers only please, but donations will be gratefully received for Cancer Research UK. Maureen was a mentor to me when I worked for the Visually Impaired service. She was a true lady with such a kind heart who cared about everyone she met. I will never forget her kindness she showed towards me along with the support given to me. A real angel x

I had the delight in knowing Mrs Matthews and her husband Howard for about 50 yrs . Although I know many people I rarely get close to them but both Howard and Maureen were so delightful it was an honour to know them both. They were so proud of Stephanie and whilst I never knew her I just had to pass on my condolences and speak about her parents and say what an honour it was to know them.
