ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984-SECTION 14(1)(b) M48 MOTORWAY (SEVERN BRIDGE WEIGHT) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2017
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State for Transport intends to make an Order on the M48 motorway in South Gloucestershire, the County of Gloucestershire and the County of Monmouthshire because of the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road. The effect of the Order would be to restrict vehicles over 7.5 tonnes to the inside lane on the Severn Bridge.
The latest information on the M48 Severn Bridge crossing can be found on Severn River Crossing's website at www.severnbridge.co.uk The HGV restriction (which would not apply to emergency service vehicles) would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the period.
The Order would come into force on 18 September 2017 and have a maximum duration of 18 months, ending no later than 17 March 2019.
