EasyJet, Europe’s leading airline, has celebrated carrying 50m passengers from Bristol, marking the milestone with a prize giveaway for the lucky passenger.

EasyJet launched operations from Bristol 17 years ago, and is now the airport’s largest airline, remaining committed to the airport with sustainable growth and flying more than 50m passengers with low fares and friendly customer service.

The milestone was celebrated by easyJet giving the lucky 50 millionth passenger, Emma Wilson, a pair of prize flights from Bristol to a destination of their choice.

EasyJet serves 67 destinations from Bristol airport, the airline’s biggest base outside of London, with a total of 15 based aircraft from May. easyJet continues to develop and grow in Bristol with an increase in capacity this year of more than seven per cent.

Ali Gayward, easyJet UK Country Manager, said: “I am really excited that we have flown our 50 millionth passenger from Bristol. As our largest base outside of London, we are proudly committed to continued sustainable growth at the airport.

“This year we have offered a significant number of extra seats to the base which allows us to continue to fly Bristol passengers to fantastic destinations such as Stockholm and Barcelona.

“This is a fantastic milestone for us, and we look forward to continuing to serve Bristol passengers with low fares and friendly customer service.”

Nigel Scott, business development director, Bristol Airport said: “This is an incredible milestone and a demonstration of the successful partnership between easyJet and Bristol Airport.

"This summer will see easyJet base fifteen aircraft, flying to more than 60 business and leisure destinations from Bristol Airport. The route network offers passengers in the region an extensive choice and flexibility of flights, whilst using their local airport. Since 2001 easyJet have steadily grown their base at Bristol Airport and invested in a large fleet of Airbus aircraft, supporting the strong aircraft manufacturing sector in the region.

“We look forward to further development of the long standing relationship between both companies and extending the route network in the future.”
