STORM Bronagh battered the region overnight leaving destruction in its wake.
Ty Sign primary school in Risca has been forced to close due to flooding.
A post on their Facebook page said:"Unfortunately due to flooding in the main electricity hub we have to close the school today.
"Apologies for the short notice but safety is paramount.
"Please spread the news as we cannot access our text message service at the moment.
"I’ll update everyone as soon as electricians advise us!"
There was flooding near the fire station in New Inn as the Afon Lwyd burst its banks, and on Bridge Street in Newbridge which was closed due to heavy flooding and a car had to be rescued.

There is currently a flood warning in place on parts of the River Usk. The level at Abergavenny was 3.7 metres and rising at 7am this morning.
A flood alert has been issued by Natural Resources Wales for the River Usk in Monmouthshire and Newport.
A fallen tree also closed Royal Oak Hill in Newport. Workmen were at the scene removing the tree at 10.20pm.
There was also a tree down on Belmont Hill in Caerleon near the turning for Christchurch.
Alan Browne took a photo of a tree down between bridges 58 and 59 on the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal.
People living in Pontypool lost power and engineers from Western Power Distribution were able to restore power in the early hours.
There are currently restrictions due to strong winds on M48 Severn Bridge westbound between junction one and two
