NEXT week, schoolchildren from across Torfaen will be taking over the Pontypool Indoor Market for the borough’s third annual Enterprise Week.

Pupils from Blaenavon Heritage, Cwmffrwdoer, George Street, Griffithstown, New Inn, Penygarn and Pontnewydd primary schools are designing and developing products to sell in Pontypool Indoor Market between Monday, July 8 and Thursday, July 11.

The pupils have also received advice and support from local businesses.

In addition, teenagers and young adults from West Mon, St Alban’s, Croesyceiliog and Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw secondary schools who are part of the Inspire to Achieve programme and working towards an enterprise qualification will also be selling products.

As featured in last week’s Free Press, George Street Primary School pupils have been working to create palm oil free soap to sell.

Other products available from the market will be Penygarn Community Primary School’s multi-coloured soaps – with a surprise small toy inside, which they hope will help encourage younger children to wash, and West Mon Secondary School’s candles, ‘jars of happiness’, and books.

The participating schools will each be selling their products in Pontypool Indoor Market between 10am until 2pm.

A timetable for the week is available on the Torfaen council website.
