A MUM-OF-SIX has begun a mission to pledged to get parents fit with babies and buggies in tow.

Michelle ‘Chelle’ Grant, of Barry, has begun Buggybeat outdoor fitness classes in Victoria Park, Cadoxton, Barry, and families are welcome to bring along their tots and babies, in pushchairs and prams, to cross-train and socialise at the same time.

The 48-year-old mum is a qualified level 3 personal trainer, Buggybeat instructor, and gym instructor.

She said: “I’m now following my passion which was something I only dreamt of until recently.

“As many mums do, I spent the first years post childbirth slightly chubby with some post-natal depression/anxiety thrown in which fuelled lazy eating and before I knew it I was seriously overweight.

“Bloated, depressed and anxious I used food as a plaster to make me feel better albeit temporarily.

“I felt the world was against me and more and more I isolated myself.

“I had six babies and I didn’t look after myself, but life changed and I developed a passion for fitness – that was my therapy.

“It made me feel great emotionally and physically.

“Doing exercise I lost the weight and became healthier and happier.

“From the dark days came the lightbulb moment of creating my own fitness classes and I qualified as a Level 3 personal trainer – coaching others either one-to-one, in my Buggybeat class or my Ease into Exercise class which is for people new to fitness is my calling.”

She is now working with Newydd Housing Association and Atal y Fro providing exercise sessions to their users too.

She added: “Helping people to make their difference is a huge buzz for me because, well, I’ve been there and I understand more than most.”

Buggybeat is run on Tuesdays at Victoria Park, Cadoxton, Barry at 10am. Sessions cost £4. For details search Chelle Grant Personal Training and Group Fitness on Facebook. Alternatively, call 07402 715829 or email michrich36@icloud.com
