NEWPORT County AFC defender Jay Foulston has agreed terms with Chippenham Town to sign with the National League South side on loan until the end of the 2019-2020 season.
The 18-year-old Swansea-born player has made a total of six appearances internationally for Wales at under-17 and under-19 level, scoring once.
Foulston made two appearances for the Exiles in the Checkatrade Trophy last season, helping to keep a clean sheet against Chelsea under-21s as well as playing the full 90 minutes in the second-round penalty shootout defeat to Cheltenham Town.
He also made three appearances for the first team in the 2017-2018 campaign and spent time on loan at Merthyr Town last season.
Foulston's County contract runs until the summer of 2020.
On completing the move to Chippenham, he said: "I’m delighted to join Chippenham. It’s a great chance for me to play regular football and improve as a player.
“I can’t wait to meet the lads and settle in and hopefully have a good season with them. I am buzzing to get started!"
The teenager has been used as a centre-back by County, but Chippenham view him as a left-back.
Manager Mark Collier said: "Jay is a highly rated left-back and certainly has a bright future ahead of him having made his senior debut as well as being capped.
"Prior to his signature I discussed him with Paul Bodin, his international coach, who speaks highly of him. And Paul certainly knows a thing or two about left-backs."
Foulston will be in the Chippenham squad for Saturday's pre-season friendly at Frome Town.
