A SOCIAL landlord in Torfaen is asking for one of its tenants to join its board

The tenant will work with the 11 existing members of Bron Afon Community Housing’s Board.

Made up of twelve people, the board will have two tenants, eight independent members and two councillors. They work together to help make big decisions on the way Bron Afon is run and what services it offers.

To give people a taster of what being a board member is like, Bron Afon is running open evenings on Tuesday, July 23 from 2.30pm to 5pm and Monday, July 29 from 5.30pm to 8pm at its office in William Brown Close in Llantarnam.

Jill Jones, head of governance and assurance at Bron Afon said: “We can’t wait to get applications from tenants who want to really make a difference to people’s lives. It’s a very rewarding experience. Our Board members help decide the way we work through the decisions they make.”

The new board member will get free support and training.
