A SUBMERGED car has been retrieved from the sea off the Watchtower Bay coastline in The Knap, Barry.
The volunteer RNLI crew of the inshore Barry Dock Lifeboat launched on Friday, August 2 following reports that a vehicle had driven onto the sand to launch a leisure boat.
Barry Coastguard was paged at 5.36pm and they confirmed with the crew that the vehicle was unoccupied.
A Barry Coastguard spokesman said: “A vehicle had driven onto the sand to Launch their leisure boat at Watchtower Bay, The Knap.
“As the tide was rising the vehicle was soon covered, Barry Dock RNLI ILB boat attended to speak with the Owner off Knap point in his boat.
“During this time his boat was taking on water so the Barry Dock RNLI ALB was also requested.
“The boat and owner were brought back to the slip way and the boat removed.”
The small boat that had been launched originally from the sunken car was towed back to Watchtower Bay to the waiting Barry coastguards.
