LOSTOCK AC's Chris Taylor was one of 100 hardy souls who headed to Turner Hall Farm for the annual running of the Turner Landscape fell race.

Starting and finishing in the beautiful Duddon Valley, the 11-mile race, which is always run in aid of Alzheimer's research, heads to Seathwaite Tarn and then over to Coniston Old Man and Walna Scar with a total ascent of 3,000 feet before returning via Dow Crag.

Taylor was able to sustain a strong pace in hot, humid conditions and having survived a stumble on Dow Crag returned to Turner Hall Farm in 2hrs 2mins 3secs for a pleasing 39th placing in a strong field.

The five-strong Lostock team who entered the Borrosdale Horseshoe Lakeland classic fell race enjoyed a less fortune day than Taylor.

Severe motorway congestion meant Albert, Michele and Abigail Sunter missed the delayed start, while Mike Ernill and Kerry Varden retired from the race.

In parkrun at Bolton, Tony Maxwell clocked 26:53, while Jocelyn Chadderton finished in 29:02 and Sheila Garewal came home in 30:04.

At Haigh Woodland, Ian Burns ran 26:06 and David Wilcock clocked 28:16.
