SCISSOR Sisters beat fellow Section G side Inal Warriors 309-261 in the BSF Rounders League’s Blackburn Shield final at Farnworth Social Circle Cricket Club last Friday.

Despite the stormy weather, the match was completed and after a superb first half from Scissor Sisters, Inal Warriors were trailing 158-79 in the clash between two first-time finalists.

Warriors were staring into the eyes of defeat, however, thanks to some outstanding batting from Amy Griffiths (43), Liz Collier (33), Emily Hattersley (27) and Deb Hargreaves (23), they ended on a match total of 261, leaving Scissor Sisters requiring 104 to win.

Again, some fabulous batting saw Chloe Marsh score 37, followed by Lynda Hardman (28) and Alison Hoodgreen (23) giving Scissor Sisters an innings score of 151 and a winning match total of 309.

In the league, there have been some close games this week, with the Section B clash between Queens and LLCC seeing the former winning by just one point.

In Section M, there was a draw between Blackrod CC Ladies and TLC.

There was just one point between them at half time, then both scored 95 points in total.

It was an exciting match to both play in and to watch, particularly as Blackrod are just two points ahead of TLC, while TLC have one game in hand in the battle between them for the runners-up spot.

Friday will see the Dixon Shield Final take place between Lizzies Lunches and Westhoughton Ladies at Darcy Lever CC, starting at 6.30pm.

Then, the finale to the season, the Chadwick Cup, will take place the following Friday (August 23), at Heaton CC between Darcy Lever A and Rupert Ladies.
