Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a crash between two cars in Bexley, which left one man dead.

Officers were called on August 6 at 6.55pm after reports a grey Skoda Octavia and a blue BMW 3 series were involved in a crash on North Cray Road, at the junction with St James Way in Footscray.

Officers attended and spoke to both drivers. 

The driver of the Skoda, a 74-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment.

However, whilst in hospital his condition deteriorated and he died on August 8.

His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place on August 16 at Princess Royal University Hospital.

The other driver was treated at the scene – he did not require hospital treatment.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are currently investigating.
