A PENSIONER who was banned from holding a licence was caught drink driving by police.
At Bolton Magistrates’ Court Tom Bridge, aged 69, of Blackhorse Avenue, Blackrod, was sentenced to 16 weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months.
The court heard that it was the second time that Bridge had been convicted of drink driving and he committed the second offence, causing an accident, soon after he had been banned.
Bridge pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, drink driving and having no insurance.
He had drunk double the legal alcohol limit when he drove a Toyota Avensis on Chorley Road, Blackrod, on July 27.
Bridge was ordered to participate in a drink impaired drivers programme and 15 days of rehabilitation activities.
He was banned from driving for 46 months and ordered to pay £207 in costs and charges.
