GWENT fighter Lauren Price goes for gold against old adversary Nouchka Fontijn in Russia tomorrow after dominating her semi-final at the World Championships earlier today.
Victory for the 25-year-old, who beat Morocco’s Khadija Mardi to reach the 75kg final, will see her become Wales’ first ever boxer to win a world amateur title.
Price and Fontijn met in the last four 12 months ago with the Dutch star, beaten by the Welsh ace in the European Games final this summer, prevailing before losing out on gold.
Despite giving away a couple of inches in height to Mardi, tournament second seed Price dominated their meeting in Ulan-Ude.
All five ringside judges scored the contest 30-27 in Price’s favour at the end of three rounds.
