AN EXHIBITION celebrating the 70th anniversary of Cwmbran’s designation as a new town has been launched at in the town centre.

Family history group TimeBubble put together the exhibition which contains stories and memories submitted by residents, photographs of Cwmbran since its designation as a new town, exhibits on loan from Cwmbran Community Council, and artwork from local artists.

The group has also produced a book to showcase this information.

The TimeBubble anniversary project ‘Celebrating 70’ has been co-ordinated by Lynne Howles, manager of the CoStar Partnership at the Threepenny Bit Community Centre, where TimeBubble meets every month.

She said: “We had an amazing response from the local people and people have really enjoyed sharing their stories and reminiscing.”

The launch of the book and exhibition took place on Saturday, November 2 at 7 The Arcade in Cwmbran.

It was opened by Nick Thomas-Symonds, and attended by members of Cwmbran Community Council.

Mr Thomas-Symonds said: “Everyone who has lived in Cwmbran over the past seven decades has contributed to its rich and varied history. Thank you to all those involved in the TimeBubble project who have collected the stories of Cwmbran’s people which will now be preserved for future generations.”

The exhibition will be open until December 13 from 10am to 4pm.
