Dangerous driver nearly hit pedestrians during Tredegar chase

A DANGEROUS driver who nearly ran over two pedestrians during a high speed police chase has been locked up.

Adam Taylor, aged 32, also overtook another car on the wrong side of the road on a blind bend, Newport Crown Court was told.

“The defendant failed to stop for police who had activated their blue lights and siren," said prosecuting counsel Eugene Egan.

Newport MP Jessica Morden to lead The All-Party Parliamentary Group

NEWPORT East MP Jessica Morden is the new co-chairwoman of a cross-party political group supporting the UK's steel industry.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Steel is made up of MPs whose constituencies serve steel-working communities.

The group lobbies the government to raise the profile of the UK steel industry and to develop policies to promote the industry's future. Ms Morden will co-chair the APPG with Holly Mumby-Croft, the new Conservative MP for Scunthorpe.

Knifeman admits Spar attempted armed robbery

A KNIFEMAN was warned by a judge he is facing a lengthy custodial sentence after he admitted an attempted armed robbery at a Gwent convenience store.

Patrick Drake, 20, from Chepstow, pleaded guilty to the offence which was committed at the Spar in Portskewett just before Christmas.

The defendant admitted attempting to rob Sandeep Singh and having a bladed article, namely a kitchen knife, in a public place.

Why did the Post Office cross the road?

THE POST Office at Fairwater shops in Cwmbran could be set to move in the spring - but residents will not have to travel too much further.

For the proposed move will see the Post Office move 50 metres from Fairwater Convenience Store, at 18 Fairwater Square, to the Premier store at 9-13 Fairwater Square.

Lidl issues recall on Kania Oregano over 'liver disease' fears

LIDL UK is recalling a type of oregano after fears that it contains high levels of a chemical compound that "can lead to liver disease", the Food Standards Agency has said.
