A BY-ELECTION could be held in Pontypool after a community councillor resigned.
Cllr Keith James, who represented the New Inn Upper ward, has quit for "business and personal reasons".
Applications are now open, with a vote to be held if 10 voters from within the ward write to Alison Ward, Proper Officer of Torfaen County Borough Council, requesting a by-election by 5pm on Thursday, March 19. The requests may be submitted together or separately.

If a by-election is to be held, polling day will be set for within 35 working days of the date of receipt of the requests.
If the required ten requests are not received, the community council will fill the vacancy by co-option.
This co-option will take place as soon as is practicable after the end of the 14 working day period.
If the council has to fill the vacancy by co-option, this will be done at a council meeting.
At a full council meeting on Wednesday, February 26, the remaining councillors thanked Cllr James for his contribution.
