TORFAEN children can take a break from their school work to take part in a literary lockdown challenge.
Assembly Member Lynne Neagle has launched an essay challenge, where she is asking pupils to send in a piece entitled "My Covid-19 Superhero is ...?"
"These days of lockdown are challenging for all of us but they must be particularly hard for harassed parents trying to home-school their children," she said.
"As chair of the National Assembly’s Children, Young People and Education Committee, I place a lot of importance on the emotional and mental wellbeing of young people, so I thought an essay challenge might provide an opportunity for a bit of everyday normality."
Secondary school pupils can submit up to 800 words and primary school pupils up to 400 words.
Younger primary school aged children can submit at picture of their Covid-19 Superhero.
The essay challenge will run until the end of May.
Ms Neagle will be sharing extracts of some of the entries on social media, and said she hopes, once things return to normal, to include them in a published document.
She said she also hopes to invite some of the pupils that take part to the Senedd or visit them in their schools, if more appropriate.
