Thank you to all those who have written down and sent in their School Memories of Torfaen for our project.
However, there must be still many, many more out there who have yet to write them down for lodging in our archive.
Whatever your age, why not spend some time this week to look through any photographs of your schooldays and write down your experience of school life in your time?
All these memories will be lodged in the museum Trust local studies library and archive as a unique record for the future.
Imagine in 50 or 100 years time what people will learn about you and your school memories.
For instance, this souvenir programme has been copied and donated to the museum by Cllr Neil Waite. It is a programme for a special event held at Pontymoel School on the evening of April 3, 1913, when the portraits of Mr C & Mrs C Lawrence were unveiled by Miss Parry and Mr Joshua for the Portrait Committee and invited guests.
The only problem is – we do not know who Mr & Mrs Lawrence were.
If you know who Mr & Mrs Lawrence might have been, have any research to share with us or you still have your Torfaen School Memories to send in for our Lockdown Project, please write to the museum (Amgueddfa Torfaen Museum, Park Buildings, Pontypool, NP4 6JH) or email the museum on TorfaenMuseum@outlook.com
Nostalgia is provided by Torfaen Museum.
