TWO savvy and caring children from Blaenavon have donned their gardening gloves in lockdown to start their own vegetable boxes.
Rhys and Dylan Bradley, 13 and 11, are making their “grow your own” vegetable boxes from home before delivering them to vulnerable neighbours.
The lads came up with the idea while watching a gardening programme where it dawned on them that so many people cannot get out and enjoy the sunshine because they are shielding.
“They were talking about being concerned for these people, especially from a mental health point of view,” said dad Steve Bradley. “We went on the internet and got all the material, set up a Facebook page, and within the first hour we were receiving orders.”

The duo have now delivered 14 boxes to neighbours in the last few days, with orders still flying in. Mr Bradley said it has been a great way for them to continue developing their skills while not in school.
“They’re buying the equipment on a budget and they’re making the pots themselves, so people only need to water them,” he added. “It’s been a nice way for them to focus on something and give something back too.”
