SOUTH LAKES MP Tim Farron has begun his yearly summer surgery tour.

Mr Farron will visit 36 towns and villages stretching from Grasmere down to Burton-in-Kendal and Torver, and across to Dent, as part of his 16th annual surgery tour.

The MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale kicked off the surgery tour on Tuesday at Kentmere Post Office.

He said: “During this crisis, my team and I have been working hard for local residents, completing almost 7,000 cases since the beginning of lockdown.

“My summer tour gives me a great opportunity to get out and about to hear about the issues that matter to local people and act on them."

Mr Farron explained that he aimed to visit 'almost every settlement in the constituency of around 100 houses or more', and that a schedule was available on his website.

"This will be my 16th summer tour as our MP and it’s one of the best bits about my job," he told The Gazette.

"As in previous years, all of my stops will be outdoors which will make it much easier to keep to social distancing rules.

“No appointment is needed to see me - please just turn up.”

The MP's constituency advice surgery tour ends on Saturday in Cartmel Village Shop at 5pm.
