A VIRTUAL walking festival initiative has been launched to help walking festivals, including the one in Chepstow, offer self-guided walks this summer and support local businesses.
Walking Festivals make a significant economic and wellbeing contribution to rural communities and they too need to adjust to the impact of coronavirus in order to survive.
Outdooractive have launched an online service to help with this.
Chepstow Walking Festival organiser Helen Kenneally said: “We are still planning to hold the festival from October 23-26, but of course, this will be subject to the Covid situation.
“By having some walks online as a taster we hope to encourage people to visit as permitted if the guided walks are not possible.”
By using code called a widget the routes can also be displayed on the festival website to create an instant Virtual Walking Festival featuring a number of colourful walks with mapping, turn-by-turn instructions.
