CHAMPION charity fund raiser Kelvin Reddicliffe is helping organisers cobble together prizes for the South Wales Argus Business Awards in aid of St David’s Hospice Care.

The Newport-based charity has been selected to benefit from a raffle with a difference on the night of the awards.

Newport cobbler Kelvin, of Timpson’s, Austin Friars, Newport who is a stalwart supporter of the charity, has donated three limited edition framed prints.

The pictures - of the Newport Chartist mural, an art print and a numbered panoramic photograph of Newport - will be added to a collection of other top prizes. These include Dragons and Newport County AFC tickets, golfing prizes and a day at Chepstow races/

Argus business editor Jo Barnes, said: “The prizes we have had donated so far from very generous supporters are fantastic. The awards evening, on Thursday, November 14, at the Newport Centre, is going to be extra special anyway celebrating the south east Wales business sector. These prizes for the balloon raffle will help make it even more special.”

Tania Ansell, of St David’s Hospice Care, who is organising the raffle, said: “We have had marvellous support so far with great donations. Kelvin is a superb backer of the charity and his donation of these three prints is just brilliant.”

Prizes have so far been donated by Newport Golf Club, Tiny Rebel Brewery, The Pod, Western Power Distribution, A2Z Computing, Melin Homes, Towergate Insurance, the awards lead sponsor Newport BID, Phil Bessant, David Barnes PR, The Dragons, Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, The Events Room, RDP Law, Friars Walk, Mon Motors, Liverton Opticians, Beth’s Bakes and Mon Usk Deli.

Finalists have been announced for the awards and the winners will be announced at the awards evening on November 14, which will be attended by Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns and the guest speaker Gordon Merrylees, of NatWest.

The awards, which are being held in association with lead sponsor Newport Now Business Improvement District, are also backed by a range of category sponsors: Western Power Distribution, Icon Creative Design, Cintec International, Baldwins, RDP Law, Kymin, Admiral, Johnson and Phillips, Newport City Council, Monmouthshire Building Society, Friars Walk and the Kingsway Centre. Capsell has sponsored the programme for the event, which will include full details of the raffle.
