Prostate Cymru is the leading charity in Wales dedicated to fighting all prostate diseases.

And it has recently launched its new helpline, which was installed by Cwmbran-based telecommunications provider RPS Technology Solutions.

Prostate Cymru receives no national or government funding and relies on the generosity of its fundraisers and volunteers to help fulfil their key aims, which include raising awareness, promoting understanding, and the funding the latest medical equipment and training of healthcare professionals.

Through the continued support received through public donation, Prostate Cymru launched its new telephone helpline, which is manned by specialist nurse Gaynor Newton.

The helpline provides invaluable expert advice, along with a listening ear to those in need. The free phone number, 08000 470200, is manned between the hours of 4pm and 8pm from Monday to Friday.

RPS is one of Wales’ premier Internet Telephony Service Providers (ITSP), pioneering with hosted voice over IP telecoms solutions. The firm has a commitment to aiding Prostate Cymru, having previously assisted by installing their telecommunications solutions to the charity’s office in Cardiff.

In March, it announced Prostate Cymru as its chosen charity and has committed ever since to supporting them with the vital work they undertake, completing a number of fundraising activities and challenges.

Owen Pugsley, corporate events and marketing executive at Prostate Cymru, said: “We are extremely grateful for the work that RPS Technology Solutions have done to assist our charity, their latest effort is going to benefit Prostate Cymru massively because it means we can now have a solution in place that allows Welsh men to contact and speak to a specialist nurse regarding their queries and issues relating to their disease.”

Natalie Strange, operations and marketing manager at RPS Technology Solutions, said: “We are proud to continue our support for Prostate Cymru. The work they carry out is vital for men across Wales and it is an honour to assist where we can. The specialist helpline will provide a brilliant service that we hope will have a positive effect on many people.”
