Insurance campany Admiral, which employs about 1,000 in the heart of Newport, has been named a centre of Excellence in Wellbeing.

Having been named a Great Place to Work for 17 consecutive years by the Great Place to Work Institute, it has now recognised Admiral specifically for its approach to wellbeing in the workplace.

Recognition as a centre for ‘Excellence in Wellbeing’ is dependent on employees completing the Great Place to Work Wellbeing Index survey designed to measure the levels of wellbeing in the workplace.

Comprising 17 statements of personal perceptions, the survey seeks employees’ experiences and views on six key dimensions that underpin wellbeing. These are work environment, financial security, mental and physical health, interpersonal relationships, work life balance and fulfilment at work.

Health and wellbeing manager Rebecca Walters said: “We pride ourselves on having a happy, supportive and productive atmosphere in all our offices and we take our employees’ wellbeing very seriously.

“From mindfulness and yoga sessions, to health and financial advice, our choir and free fruit, our health and wellbeing teams work hard to equip our colleagues with various tools to help manage their health and wellbeing.

“We’re all very proud to have this work recognised by Great Place to Work and we’ll continue to keep wellbeing at the forefront of our unique culture.”

Admiral was named the fourth best super large workplaces (1,000+ employees) in the UK in May 2019, based on feedback from its employees. The results of the 2020 competition will be announced in May.
