Newport-based independent VAT specialists Centurion VAT has a new team member after Mike Trotman joined the firm from Deloitte.

With more than 35 years' experience, Mike has been advising clients on technical advice and policy guidance on VAT and environmental taxation to the corporate sector and government departments, working with major infrastructure groups, the waste industry, utilities and SMEs caught by the increasing complexity of all indirect taxes.

Liz Maher, director at Centurion, said: “Centurion’s USP is the high level of indirect tax experience across our team. Mike’s experience in VAT not only enhances the VAT support we can offer to our clients but also brings environmental taxes expertise to the scope of our service offering – highly relevant in the current age.

“Mike is an environmental tax expert respected across the UK, as his engagement on government policy and major industry group forums proves. It’s a pleasure to welcome him to the Centurion Team.”

Mike said: “Joining such an interactive and well-respected team at a time of significant changes in the world of indirect tax is particularly exciting.

"I very much look forward to being a part of Centurion’s next phase of growth, and to continuing its premium client service.”

Established in 1998, Centurion VAT offers a wide range of VAT services including VAT consultancy, an on-site VAT resource, compliance, business reviews, help lines and management programmes.

Liz said: "With the growth we are experiencing, I don’t doubt that Mike’s appointment to the team will not be the last to support our expanding client base in dealing with Brexit planning, development projects of all types as well as new policies including the planned construction service's domestic reverse charge and the growing environmental taxes agenda."
