A Newport company is among three Welsh firms competing in the Tech Nation’s Rising Stars grand final.

Moneyshake is a fintech business based in Newport. The car lease comparison website provides a quick, easy-to-use UX experience which streamlines deals from some of the UK’s top leasing brokers. Its pioneering technology is set to evolve “price comparison” to “price competition”.

The grand final, which is being held tonight, sees Moneyshake going head to head with Resooma and We Build Bots, which are both based in Cardiff.

UK government minister for Wales David Davies, who is MP for Monmouth, said: “Wales is rapidly becoming one of the best places in the UK to start and grow a tech business. With almost 50,000 people employed in the sector here, the UK government continues to promote innovation and create the right conditions for economic growth. That’s because we’re aware of the benefits the tech sector can bring in fields including improving education, boosting productivity and employment as well as helping us solve some of the greatest challenges that our society faces today and in the future.”

Gino Brancazio, entrepreneur engagement manager - Wales, Tech Nation, said: “It's incredibly exciting to see three Welsh companies entering Tech Nation's grand final. They are definitely companies to keep an eye on, now and in the future. They also highlight the growing maturing of the Welsh ecosystem, and the variety of the ecosystem too - representing growing sectors in Wales - fintech, e-commerce and AI."
