PONTYPOOL-BASED business Airbond have been recognised at the FSB Wales Celebrating Small Business Awards 2020.

The company makes yarn splicers - which join yarns in textile processes, connecting bobbins or repairing breakages.

At a ceremony in Cardiff, Airbond were victorious in the 'Business and Product Innovation' category.

Airbond will now be entered into the prestigious UK-wide grand final held in London. This was originally scheduled for May but has now been postponed until later in the year.

Manager Graham Waters said: “I am extremely proud that Airbond have won this award, particularly when you consider some of the many small, innovative businesses across Wales.

"Our success is largely down to my extremely hard-working and determined staff who I am privileged to work with.

"Without their resourcefulness and drive Airbond would not be the success it is today.”

The company is also a two-time winner of the prestigious Queens Award for Innovation, receiving the most recent award last year.
