GWENT'S Jenny McLoughlin might have secured a double medal haul at the BT Paralympic World Cup but the 20-year-old insists there is plenty more to come from her this summer.

McLoughlin, from Chepstow, lost out to compatriot and sprint rival Katrina Hart in both the 100m and 200m in Manchester, settling for bronze and silver respectively.

But there were plenty of signs of encouragement for McLoughlin who smashed her personal best in claiming silver in the 200m in a time of 30.29seconds. And the Cardiff University student insisted there was still plenty of room for improvement before London 2012 rolls around this summer.

"I got two medals so I can't complain. Hopefully there will be more in London, that's what I'm aiming for," she said.

"I'm just looking to get selected now and we'll see what happens from there. I'm happy with how I've performed here. My preparations for the Paralympics are going really, really well. Everything went to plan.

"Obviously you want to improve all the time and you want to keep training. I'll look and see what I need to improve but generally speaking it was really, really good.

"It was a really nice atmosphere, and hopefully this is a starter for what it will be like in a few months time.

"Hopefully the crowd will be just as enthusiastic. It's so close to the Paralympics and everyone's getting in the mood for it."

Although selection is not yet guaranteed for McLoughlin, who made her Paralympics debut in Beijing four years ago, the former Chepstow Comprehensive School pupil still has a competitive schedule ahead of her.

The European Championships come into view next month but for McLoughlin the most important thing is securing her spot at the Greatest Show on Earth.

"Next month I'm doing the European Championships in Holland, we've just got to get the selection times now to be selected in July, that's when we will know," she added.

"Hopefully the weather will be the same in London. It's great to have sunshine like this.

"It's easier to run in the heat. I hate running in the rain or the snow, these are perfect conditions because you get some quick times.

"It's my fifth year doing the Paralympic World Cup. It's such a great event because they always put on a great show. It's just made me look forward to London a lot more."
