Chepstow Bowling Club had only won one out of their first five MBA games losing out by less than ten shots to Beechwood, Islwyn Park and Rhumney Royal. If these matches had been won then the team would have been top of division 2 instead of in the relegation zone. However, they really turned things around on Saturday when Belle Vue Park came to town.

The rain held off, which is important to say, and the sun even shone for a little while. After an indifferent start with Chepstow just one or two shots ahead after four ends, everything changed. On rink 1, Vic Duke, Ian McCrone, John Thompson and Mike Dick accelerated away with some superb bowling to finish with a great score of 40 shots to 12. Next door Keith Bolton skippered his charges to another good win at 29 - 8, great to see Paul Aston back in the fold. The good bowling continued on rink 3, where Jack Scurr's rink finding tough opposition ran out 24 to 17, 7 shots the better. On rink 4 the rink of Clinton Davies made a valiant late comeback to finish a shot adrift at 17 -18.

A great result for Chepstow taking them up the table with 12 out of the available 14 points and wiping away their league shot deficit with a game plus of 55 shots.
