WELSH CUP PRELIMINARY ROUND 2 – CALDICOT TOWN 1 TREFOREST 2 CALDICOT Town crashed out of the Welsh Cup after a humiliating defeat at the hands of South Wales Amateur League first division side Treforest.

The home side started bright enough and got on top of the game quickly.

On ten minutes, Treforest countered and brought the best out of keeper Tom Pass, who returned to the side after missing last week’s match through illness. Caldicot failed to heed the warning and on 16 minutes, the visitors took the lead through Ricky Webb, whose lovely shot into the far right corner from 12 yards left Pass with no chance.

On 36 minutes, Caldicot found an equaliser which had been just reward for their possession. Zaki Misbah fired the ball low across the six yard line where Luke Harris had run in to side-foot the ball into the roof of the net.

With the game possibly looking like it may go to extra time, Treforest provided the killer blow. Ex Newport County player, Ricky Manship was played in after beating the offside trap and coolly slotted the ball into the bottom right hand side of the goal.
