DRAGONS prop Aaron Jarvis will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a ruptured right hamstring.

The 32-year-old former Wales international, who joined from Clermont Auvergne last summer, limped off in the opening stages of the Guinness PRO14 loss to the Scarlets in Llanelli at the start of the month.

Jarvis went under the knife on Monday and is out for four months so will not return to the field for the PRO14 run-in, ending his campaign after 14 appearances for the region.

The loss of the prop, who can play both loosehead and tighthead, is a blow for caretaker boss Ceri Jones but his absence is countered by the return of Brok Harris.

The South African, another experienced campaigner with the ability to play both sides of the scrum, is in contention for Friday’s European Challenge Cup finale against Clermont Auvergne at Rodney Parade.

The 33-year-old has been out of action since suffering a knee injury in training in November.

Tighthead Lloyd Fairbrother is also back after a three-week suspension for his red card against Cardiff Blues before Christmas but Ryan Bevington is still out with concussion.

Wales internationals Cory Hill (shoulder), Elliot Dee (ankle), Leon Brown (thumb), Ross Moriarty (concussion) and Tyler Morgan (knee) will not feature in the dead rubber against the Top 14 leaders, who have already secured Pool One top spot and a home quarter-final.

They will spend the week rehabbing with the Welsh Rugby Union.

Wing Dafydd Howells limped off in the first half of last week’s 59-3 win against Timisoara Saracens but is expected to be in contention.
