CWMBRAN have appointed a trio of Premiership stalwarts to lead their management team for next season.

The Crows, who are battling the drop in Division One East, have brought in Ian George and Scott Williams as coaches with Gethin Robinson joining to be in charge of strength and conditioning.

George, 36 on Saturday, returns to Cwmbran with a wealth of experience after a career that saw him prop for Newport, Cross Keys, Ebbw Vale, Bedwas, Cardiff and London Welsh.

Williams is a Newport favourite after racking up 218 games for the Black and Ambers, the last of those this season after a surprise return on permit.

The 37-year-old centre, who made three Anglo-Welsh Cup appearances for the Dragons, spent the last few seasons in the Championship with Newbridge, combining playing with coaching at the Welfare.

Robinson is another Black and Ambers great thanks to his 246 appearances for the Rodney Parade club between 2003 and 2014. The tighthead moved to Ebbw Vale to finish his career, helping the Steelmen win the Premiership title in 2016.

Cwmbran are second from bottom of Division One East with two games left – both against title-chasing Brecon, at home tonight (WED) and away at the weekend – to try and climb above Caerleon.

The Welsh Rugby Union stated at the start of the season that up to three teams could be relegated to Division Two.
