CAPTAIN Stuart Vokes has boosted Newbridge by committing to the club after their relegation from the WRU National Championship.

'Bridge will be in Division One East in the coming campaign and have also had a change of management, with Welfare Ground favourite Jason Williams being appointed as head coach.

His side will be led by 32-year-old hooker Vokes, who was named as best forward at the club's end of season awards last weekend.

Scrum-half Matthew Davies took the players' player honour and was named best back, back row forward Toby Twigg was the supporters' club choice and prop Chris Davies was most-improved player.

Keeping hold of stalwart Vokes, who has Premiership experience with Cross Keys, Neath and Bedwas, is the latest boost to the Pigs’ bid to bounce back from the drop.

Number eight Mike Preece and centre Matthew McGovern have also committed to the club for 2019/20.

Division One East promises to be a fierce battle with 'Bridge locking horns with Blaenavon, Brynmawr, Pontypool United, Risca, Monmouth, Nelson, Penallta, Senghenydd, Bedlinog, Brecon and Dowlais.
