ROGERSTONE'S Bradley Jenkins will swap Barry Town United for the Pioneers in America this summer after earning a football scholarship.

The former Bassaleg School pupil is joining Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina, combining his studies with football over the next four years.

Jenkins earned a scholarship through PASS4Soccer, overcoming a serious injury to earn a shot in the USA.

"Taking part in the well-organised US tour and visiting many different universities, for me, was really helpful in confirming where I wanted to play my football and study for the next stage of my education and football development," he said.

"I'm extremely happy to be joining the Pioneers soccer team at Spartanburg and, after talking to the head coach, I am very confident it will be a successful experience for me.

"I would recommend P4S to anyone, who is considering obtaining a degree in the US, as well as developing their football."
